Wat Phnom

Wat Phnom is a famous Buddhist temple located in the center of Phnom Penh. The temple is surrounded by trees, staircases guarded by lion and naga statues, and a central stupa at the top.

According to legend, a woman named Daun Penh (“Grandmother Penh”) discovered sacred Buddha statues in the river and built a small shrine on this hill, which later became Wat Phnom.

Many locals and visitors come here, especially during festivals and holidays.
